20 Apr How to choose lamps for the store?
When it comes to choosing luminaires for retailers, there is no single ideal option that fits all stores the same. While in general, a good light source will allow you, your customers and employees to see the product better, lighting can do more than that. The right lighting can create a warm and homely environment or highlight certain product qualities.
The stores offer a wide range of lamps of different brands, but all types of lighting for trading floors are conventionally divided into four types. The first is general lighting, which is the main light source in the store. Usually these are ceiling lights that allow visitors to determine that the store is open, there are sellers in it and see the goods on the shelves. Task lights are used in places that require special activity: in dressing rooms light is used for changing clothes, light is used next to the goods to detail the goods, the main entrance can be illuminated with signs, etc.P. The third type of lighting is directional lighting, which highlights certain areas of the store, such as decoration shelves or cabinets. Some types of directional lighting are especially specific (for example, if you need to highlight a new product or an advertised product in the center of a store). And the last type of lighting is decorative lighting. Decorative lighting fixtures are more focused on how they decorate the interior than on what they illuminate. A typical example of decorative lighting is a large decorative chandelier in a boutique (which often doesn’t work).
The use of one or another type of lighting depends on the type of retail store and the range of goods that it sells. Let’s take a hardware store, a tea and coffee shop, and a clothing store as an example.
No frills in the hardware store. People tend to shop for the items they came for, so the vendors here aren’t trying to get the painter to buy a toilet. Buyers don’t spend a lot of time browsing windows and shelving (if they’re not sure, they call a consultant). Based on this feature of hardware stores, they use basic lighting (usually ceiling lights with bright light, more often fluorescent lamps). New brands of products are highlighted with spotlights or spotlights, but in general, there is always enough basic lighting.
Cozy shops that sell coffee or tea most often use carefully selected fixtures to help create a homely atmosphere. Natural light (from windows) is the most beneficial, but if it is not available, the use of bright lighting is not recommended. Warm main light and decorative lighting in such stores look the best.
In clothing stores, the use of lighting is determined by the style of the brand. Some brands prefer to use subdued main lighting, while others opt for bright fixtures, making the room feel flooded with light. As a rule, sharp youth clothes are sold in stores with subdued lights, and boutiques of expensive clothes and classic suits make them very bright. But all clothing stores should have very well thought out task lights in the fitting rooms (fluorescent lights are best not used here, because a person does not like to look at himself in this light). Depending on the style of the store, you can use bottom lighting (for example, LED walls along the walls or a cash desk), spotlight pictures, decorate the room with decorative lamps, etc.P.
